"What's Another Year" was the Irish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 in The Hague, performed by Johnny Logan on his first appearance for the country in the Contest.
It won with 143 points, giving the country its second win - a decade following its first.
Logan would make a further three appearances at the Contest - seven years later in Brussels, winning it again with the song "Hold Me Now", thus becoming the only participant to win the Contest twice as a performer, as well as at both the 1984 Contest in Luxembourg City and 1992 Contest in Malmö as songwriter of the entries "Terminal 3" and "Why Me?" by Linda Martin, the latter giving the country its third win.
Lyrics[]
I’ve been waitin’ such a long time
Lookin’ out for you, but you’re not here
What’s another year?
I’ve been wakin’ such a long time
Reachin’ out for you, but you aren’t near
What’s another year?
What’s another year
For someone who’s lost everything that he owns?
What’s another year
For someone who’s gettin’ used to bein’ alone?
I’ve been prayin’ such a long time
It’s the only way to hide the fear
What’s another year?
What’s another year
For someone who’s lost everything that he owns?
What’s another year
For someone who’s gettin’ used to bein’ alone?
I’ve been cryin’ such a long time
With such a lot of pain in every tear
What’s another year
(For someone who is getting used to being alone?)
What’s another year
(For someone who is getting used to being alone?)
What’s another year
(For someone who is getting used to being alone?)
