Waylon is the stage name of Dutch singer Willem Bijkerk. He began his music career in 1995 but came to prominence in 2008 through his participation in Holland's Got Talent, where he finished as runner-up. Following this he signed a record deal and released two albums in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
He is best known to Eurovision audiences for having been one half of Dutch country music duo The Common Linnets who finished as runner-up to Conchita Wurst at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, which gave the country its best result since its win in 1975 with the group Teach-In until Duncan Laurence's win at the 2019 Contest in Tel Aviv.
He left the group in summer 2014 to focus on his solo career again, releasing his third album, and his fourth studio album was released in September 2016.
He was internally selected to represent his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Outlaw in 'Em", which was revealed in March 2018. He competed in the second semi final and successfully qualified for the final, where he finished in 18th place with 121 points.
