Sergey Lazarev is a Russian singer, dancer and actor who began his career in 2000 as a part of boyband Smash! The group broke up in 2006 and he went on to have a solo career. To date he has released six studio albums and several singles.
After failing to represent his home country on home soil at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, he was chosen as his home country's representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with the song "You Are the Only One", which topped the vote in the first semi final but finished in 3rd place in the final.
He announced that he would be representing his home country for the second time at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, with the song "Scream". He successfully qualified from the second semi-final, finishing in 3rd place with 370 points - the same position as the 2016 Contest in Stockholm.
