Moldova has participated in the Contest 18 times since its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev with the song "Boonika bate doba" by the band Zdob și Zdub, which finished in 6th place.
The country has finished in the Top 10 five times and achieved its best-ever result with the song "Hey, Mamma!" by SunStroke Project finishing in third place. The group previously represented the country seven years earlier in Oslo, becoming huge fan favourites.
Since it debuted after the introduction of the semi finals, it has failed to qualify for the final five times, finishing in last place in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen.
It made its debut at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Minsk, finishing in 8th place. It competed a further three times with its best result of 6th place being achieved at the following year's Contest. The country withdrew following the 2013 Contest and has not competed since.
