Lys Assia (born Rosa Mina Schärer) was a Swiss singer who represented her home country in three consecutive Contests, from 1956 to 1958 and is best known for being the very first winner of the competition with the song "Refrain".

She made further unsuccessful attempts to represent her home country for the 2011 and 2012 Contests but attended the latter as a guest of honor. Three years later, she attended the 60th anniversary concert in London as a guest of honor where she she sat on a throne and was presented with a tiara.

She died on 24 March 2018 at the age of 94, just three weeks after marking her birthday.
