Luxembourg has participated in the Contest 37 times since making its debut as one of the Founding Seven nations in 1956. It won five times, including two years in a row, and placed last three times, once with Nul Points.
Although it won in 1973 it was unable to host the Contest the following year due to financial problems so the United Kingdom was selected as the host.
It was relegated from the 1994 Contest in Dublin and withdrew from competing for financial reasons until it was announced in May 2023 that the country would return for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö.
