Lithuania has participated in the Contest 22 times since its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 in Dublin with Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finishing in last place with Nul Points.
Since then it has had nine Top 20 finishes including three Top 10 finishes with its best result, placing sixth at the 2006 Contest in Athens with the song "We Are the Winners" by the group LT United. It finished in 10th place a decade later with the song "I've Been Waiting for This Night" by Donny Montell, who first represented the country at the 2012 Contest in Baku. In 2021, the group The Roop finished in 8th place with the song "Discoteque".
With the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, the country has failed to advance to the finals seven times.
The country debuted at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Rotterdam, finishing in 13th place. They competed a further three times with their best result coming the following year when they finished in 3rd place. Following the 2011 Contest, they withdrew and have not competed since.
