The Eurovision Song Contest 1999 was the 44th annual Eurovision Song Contest held in Jerusalem, Israel on 29 May following transsexual singer Dana International giving the country its third win with the song "Diva".
No country made its debut while Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Iceland and Lithuania made their return. Finland, Greece, Hungary, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland withdrew from competing.
The Contest was won by Sweden's representative Charlotte Nilsson with the song "Take Me to Your Heaven". This was the country's fourth win as well as their second of the decade.
