The Eurovision Song Contest 1991 was the 36th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 4 May 1991 in Rome, Italy following Toto Cutugno giving the country its second victory the previous year with the song "Insieme: 1992".
No country made its debut while Malta returned. The Netherlands withdrew from competing.
The Contest was won for the third time by Sweden with the song "Fångad av en stormvind" by Carola. Although the country obtained the same amount of points as runner-up France it claimed victory due to being awarded more 10 points.
It is also infamously remembered for its poor presenting by presenters Gigliola Cinquetti and Toto Cutugno, both of whom had claimed victory for their home country in 1964 and the previous year respectively.
