The Eurovision Song Contest 1990 was the 35th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 5 May 1990 in Zagreb, SR Croatia, Yugoslavia following the band Riva giving the country its sole win the previous year with the song "Rock Me".
No country made its debut, returned or withdrew from competing with many of the competing songs making reference to the changing political and social landscape across the European continent following revolutions in Central and Eastern European countries in 1989 and speaking of the future of the European continent.
The Contest was won for the second time by Italy with the song "Insieme: 1992" by Toto Cutugno, coming 26 years after its first in Copenhagen. This is also the last time to date that the countries later known as the 'Big Five' (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) all finished in the Top 10.
