The Eurovision Song Contest 1985 was the 30th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 4 May 1985 in Gothenburg, Sweden following the group Herreys giving the country its second win the previous year with the song "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley".
No country made its debut while Greece and Israel returned. The Netherlands and Yugoslavia withdrew from competing.
The Contest was won for the first time ever by Norway with the song "La det swinge" by the duo Bobbysocks!. This was seen as a triumph as the country had finished in last place eleven times up to that point.
