The Eurovision Song Contest 1979 was the 24th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 31 March 1979 in Jerusalem, Israel after Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta gave the country its its first-ever victory the previous year with the song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi".
No country made its debut or returned while Turkey withdrew from competing.
The Contest was won for the second year in a row by Israel with the song "Hallelujah" by the group Milk & Honey.
As of 2023, it is the last Contest to be held in March.
