The Eurovision Song Contest 1978 was the 23rd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 22 April 1978 in Paris, France after Marie Myriam gave the country its its fifth victory the previous year with the song "L'oiseau et l'enfant".
Twenty countries participated. No country made its debut or withdrew while Denmark and Turkey returned.
The Contest was won for the first time ever by Israel with the song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" by Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta.
