Estonia has competed in the Contest 27 times, making its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 in Dublin. However, they finished second last to Lithuania and were therefore relegated from the following year's Contest.
Following their return in 1996 they finished in the Top 8 in six of the following Contests, with their only win to date coming at the 2001 Contest in Copenhagen, which made them the first former Soviet country to win the Contest.
Since the introduction of the semi final rounds in 2004, they have failed to qualify for the final ten times and have reached the Top 10 four times, the latter more than any other Baltic country.
In August 2023, Estonian broadcaster ERR announced that the country would be set to make its debut in the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Nice, making them the 41st country to ever take part in a Junior Eurovision event.
