Brendan Murray is an Irish singer who began his career as a member of boyband Hometown, whose first two singles both reached #1 in the Irish charts. They also scored a Top 5 album with their only studio release and went on hiatus in 2016.
Brendan decided to go solo with the band's manager Louis Walsh overseeing his career. In December 2016, he was announced as the Irish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev. He is the third act managed by Louis Walsh to represent his home country at the Contest, following Johnny Logan and Jedward.
He participated in the second semi-final but failed to advance to the final, continuing the country's run of non-qualifications for the fourth consecutive year.
In 2018, he auditioned for the fifteenth series of the UK version of The X Factor, making it all the way to the live shows and finishing in 5th place.
