Belarus has participated in the Contest 16 times since its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul. They have failed to qualify for the final on ten occasions and have achieved one Top 10 finish, which came at the 2007 Contest courtesy of entrant Dmitry Koldun, who finished in 6th place in the final.
The country made its debut in the inaugural Junior Eurovision Contest and has participated in every Contest since. It has won the Contest twice (in 2005 and 2007) and has had another three Top 3 finishes.
Following the country's disqualification from competing in the 2021 Contest in Rotterdam due to submitting a politically-charged entry (as it had done at the previous edition), the EBU announced in June of that year that the country would be suspended as a member, blocking them from competing in any further Contests, both in the adult and junior editions, unless another broadcaster took their position. On 1 July 2021, BTRC was officially expelled from the EBU for three years, which expires on 1 July 2024, permitting the country to return to the adult contest as early as 2025 and the junior contest in 2024.
